TankBot: The micro-robotic toy with military precision

Micro-robotic toys maker, Desk Pets International (HK) Limited is going to debut TankBot in 2011 Toy Fair, New York - the world’s first sub-$20 micro-robotic toy. The robot takes commands from iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch devices.

It features three modes which allow it to navigate, roam, and clear obstacles. The built in USB charger of the robot has able to put a cut on additional battery cost. A 30 minutes of charge can make it run for 15 minutes. Desk Pets has revolutionized the remote control toys by connecting their recent micro-robot to today’s latest mobile technology.

With a dongle attached the robot gets easily plugged into the headphone jack of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch. By using Apple’s accelerometer technology, the TankBot can be controlled by simply tilting the mobile device. One can move the device backwards, forward and sideways with a simple tilt. The TankBot can navigate, avoid obstacles and interact with the users motions by itself using built-in IR sensors - if turned onto autonomous mode.

In an aggregate the mighty TankBot is equipped with accelerometer technology, IR sensors, Free roaming mode (with tank sounds), Retractable USB charger, Flashing heartbeat eyes, etc. The Managing Directors, Michael Trzecieski and David Piltz, Desk Pets International have made an unprecedented move by integrating the toy with Apple devices. Michael Trzecieski said “We are the first company to develop a sub $20 toy with full compatibility with the Apple devices.”
