Land mines in the terror infested areas of the world are constant headaches to the law enforcing agencies and peace keepers. Land mines which are concealed under the ground take away many lives every year. The developing countries of the third world still use old mine detecting devices which were used in the world war 2. Now here is a good news. A new technique, i.e. a robotic land mine, for detecting and destroying locomotive device D-3 from a private technological corporation Digger DTR of Switzerland is here to help police and anti terrorists agencies.

According to Digger, this remote-controlled land mine detecting robotic locomotive has a box like top which is fully armored to survive mine explosions and other hazards ranging up to 81mm in diameter. If damage occurs, it can be repaired easily. Besides, it has several tank like wheels to traverse uneven terrain.
The front portion of this robotic vehicle mimics vehicles which are used in modern cities to collect and clear garbage. But in this case the vehicle has a spinning tiller made of several tungsten hammers. The hammers not only detect mines, but also dig 10 inches into the ground and virtually chomps on the mines and destroys them. This spinning tiller is nicknamed flail.
Together with a four-cylinder and 4.5L John Deere diesel engine that provides 173 hp at 2400 RPM, this vehicle can also move and work very fast if necessary. This mine eating tank robot not only clears and eats mine, but can also clear unwanted dense vegetation, weeds and shrubs. For doing this, it also has a rolling tiller built in it. This robotic device D-3 is severely tested before its introduction to the world. It is a more modified and advanced version of a previous model D-2. This new model can be used in remote, inaccessible areas like mountains also.
