Taking fish narrates Twitter feeds, is a great desk companion
DIY projects to read out tweets for us have just becoming so common. Yet, every make has a unique preposition, and is done with a difference. We’ve seen the Guardian robot - an emotion packed desk buddy and now here we have a fish robotized to narrate tweets with the human-like lip movement and flapping tail.

The Big Mouth Billy Bass, as the robotic fish is called is Dan Ros’ creation, which is hocked with mbed, a powerful new microcontroller with ARM Cortex M3 core, Ethernet and USB. Initially the fish only repeated .wav files from an SD card, but by getting it patched with the mbed’s HTTP Client library the fish speaks out the tweets sent @mbedmicro, after a text-to-speech sound file is created by the mbed server and zipped across to the fish. Video after the jump.
