T-Mobile brings voice calling on Facebook for self-promotion

T-Mobile USA has come up with a groundbreaking technology to promote the company among Facebook users in the United States. The flourishing telecom service provider of the U.S has unveiled plan for an inventive technology, which will bring voice calling facility between computers on Facebook chat list on a click. The facility that is branded by T-Mobile as ‘Bobsled’ works on a set of software add-ons, which can be installed with every major Web browser. With the T-Mobile add-ons installed, phone call icons will be shown beside all names in the Facebook chat list.

Of course, a tap on the green button will help users start verbal communication with the other user. In other words, similar to the major online voice chatting services like G-talk and Yahoo Messenger, Facebook will provide verbal chatting facility, thanks to the T-Mobile’s service. The important thing is that the call is to be made through the Internet connection, not through any of T-Mobile’s services. That means the facility will entirely be free-of-cost. T-Mobile only provides the software add-ons required for the facility.

According to T-Mobile USA’s senior vice president, Brad Duea, the new technology is completely designed to promote the brand. However, it seems that T-Mobile has distant plans to launch computer to phone VoIP services on payment or advertisements. T-Mobile announced that its Bobsled Facebook calling facility uses back-end technology of Vivox Inc., which is famous for its voice communication services for online games. Anyway, the new Facebook calling facility will be a blessing for the world’s top social network users in the U.S. Facebook doesn’t have its own alternative service for voice calling.
