Tom Tlalim, a Super Smash Bros: Brawl addict, has thought up a new way to combine eight nintendo Wii controllers. Using this idea, he combines the controllers and uses them to create sound through a program called SuperCollider. The controllers are then attached around your body, such as your arms and legs. To create sound, you must flail about and look totally stupid in an attempt to make awesome sounds with your remotes. This is definitely something you might want to look into as an alternative to the Wii Fit if you aren’t a big fan of it. This will keep you in top condition while you run around the room and swing your arms like a mad man trying to fly.

On a trip to Dutch Electronic Art Festival in April 2007, Tom modified his software in preparation for his performance. He had this to say before going on stage,

I was pretty much coding it while we were sound-checking and just before we went onstage.

After his performance, which was a total hit, he went on saying

When we went onstage, it was the first time I got to try this instrument — and I can tell you that it was mind-boggling, for the audience and for me, to discover the world of sound that can come out of gesture.

With his device being a big hit, could we see more of these come out in time? Tim is currently working on the device with dancer Doron Hirsch and director Paola Tognazzi. The hopes for this project are free Music Reformers from the keyboard and mouse, once and for all. We are all waiting for the final version to come out and hopefully be distributed. If Tim keeps doing what he is doing, he is likely to sell a lot of W_Space.
