Think of a chair; now think of a state-of-the-art chair infused with two massive 16 inch sub-woofers that can hook up with a myriad of devices like iPod, MP3 player or even a gaming system, to give you that special kind of unabated euphoric sense of joy, which you have sometimes only dreamed about. Well, that in short is the difference between a normal chair and the Subsonic Chair conceived by John Greg Ball, an instructor of mechanical design technology at SAIT Polytechnic.

Truly epitomizing the adrenaline rush of a vicious music junkie, Ball came up with this grand idea for the chair a few years ago. He entered a competition on Designboom to design a special kind of furniture piece that would cater to music hungry teenagers; which actually came in top 10 out of 3,500 international entries.
The integrated mega subwoofer system can unleash a violent gust of gut shaking, hip swinging bass. And you can experience all of these while just sitting on your chair and blissfully sipping tea.
As the designer articulately puts it:" I wanted to sit in it and feel like I was on a rocket."
So, at the end of the day, does it smell like teen spirit? You bet, it does!
