If you ever wanted to fly like a bird, students at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology have made it possible to realize your wildest dreams, apparently. If things really work like what is being said, one could actually glide on his own after being dropped from an airplane. The students claim the design poses no risk and that it is better than existing models. In order to build the flight suit, healthy individuals were tested and physical limitations of the flier were defined. Based on the tests, an aerodynamic model of a human clad in a light, winged suit was built. They also have taken precautions by calculating the proper size of the wings and tail that would offer the best stability against drag forces in the air. The flight suit looks deceptively similar to the Batsuit, worn by Batman. However, they found that flying in the “Superman position” couldn’t be worked out. At this juncture, only a professional pilot can safely use the suit.
