Student built spider bot makes an impression on Intel

Spider bots are too creepy to be liked, but that’s purely because we don’t like the arachnids. But this spider-like robot by electrical engineer Matt Bunting is out and out impressive. The Hexabot made in spare parts is good to move about autonomously and as Matt hopes would soon be stuffed in with artificial intelligence, though only very basic emotions to begin with. The spider bot that moves about is a complex and sophisticated project based on an Intel 160GHz Atom processor.

Mounted with a web cam to help in movement (which isn’t per-programmed), the six legged robot is made for all terrains, it can balance and move steadily even when it has lost one of its leg. Matt’s project has made a rage in the tech world, with many companies offering free equipment and exposure in exchange for his skills. Intel on the other hand as ordered two of Matt’s spider robot, one of which will be used to tour around, showing potential applications of the company’s devices.
