This is one of the biggest hoaxes of the eighteenth century. Somebody started this thing about people in the U.K. being able to see people across the pond, I mean the Atlantic Ocean way back in 1877. All this, through a very long tunnel that ran across the entire of the Atlantic, all the way up to the United States. This device called the Telectroscope actually fooled people by projecting images, a lot like todays televisions. Now why the hell are we even talking about this hoax? We are, because British artist Paul St.George has recreated this monstrosity and keeping with the Victorian era for which it was originally envisaged for, he has given it some steampunk treatment. So now, you have a 11 meter long and 3.3 meter tall Steampunk Telectroscope which can actually display images from across the pond by a high definition camera through the latest communication technology courtesy Tiscali. And if you too want to catch a glimpse of this Steampunk Telectroscope, you can head riverward to Thames’ Tower Bridge where this contraption is on display.
