R$D team of Seoul Semiconductor seems very near to providing the world with a much brighter alternative lightning source at a cost less than that of conventional ones.
New led product, P4 emits up to 420 lumen at 600mA maximum and 350 lumen on average by sucking only 8 watts of power.
Until now, it’s the brightest among conventional 100 lumen LEDs and has a great potential to revolutionize a vast field of universal application like automotive headlights, residential lighting, architectural lighting, signage lighting, headlight for tasks, torch lighting, camping lights in the history as Jung Hoon Lee, CEO of Seoul Semiconductor claims in the following words:
P4 is making history in the lighting industry as the alternative to conventional fluorescent and incandescent lighting sources.
The product sounds promising, as it’s a cheaper option among next generation lighting source.
SSC is planning to commercialize improved version of P4 up to luminous efficacy of 135 lm/W in the fourth quarter of 2007 whereas 2008 may witness more efficient LED at a level of 145 lm/W by the first quarter of 2008.
