'Spinach Sandwich' to Power Electronic Devices

Though it took them long to construe that these static living creatures too have incredible technological capabilities, at last MIT researchers have triggered, what we can call, a new era in integrating plants into technology.

The researchers at the institute have successfully utilized hydrogen produced by spinach in a solid-state electronic 'spinach sandwich' device via photosynthesis to produce energy that may power laptops, mobiles and other devices in the future. The scientists call the spinach chloroplasts that are 10 to 20 nanometers wide, the smallest electronic circuits.
