Acer developing Hornet a Wiimote-style gaming console with a remote control was only a hoax we had been living on since the day we covered its first info leak. But the rumor seems to be settling for us, as we learn more on this nettop by Acer from its latest spec leaks over the blogosphere. The Nvidia Ion-based nettop, according to the new disclosures would include an Intel Aton N230 processor, 1080p video playback over HDMI along with 1GB RAM and 80GB hard drive (twice that memory for the high-end model).

For the OS, the device would be stuffed with Windows Vista Home Basic, wouldn’t sound exciting to many, but is fine for $199 to $299 price tag it would carry. The rumors earlier claimed that the Hornet would be launched in the first week of April, but it is only an additional spec spill that we have to content ourselves with. We still don’t have any concrete word on when we could have this gracing the shelves.
