Space gadgets that landed 'home'
You will be equally surprised to know that many of the gadgets you use at home actually descended from space (not literally otherwise it could be an alien's gadget). It means gadgets created for use in space, which later became a household item - and who other than NASA which created these items.

Smoke Detectors were already used in the 1970's Skylab space station to warn of toxic vapors before it landed at your home. In addition, bar codes were used to keep track of spacecraft parts. You can thank Apollo astronauts for causing the invention of Cordless power tools. Besides, it is all because of space programs that we are able to store our food and beverages in liquid-crystal polymers (plastics). Not only that, do you know why you can view your TV programs loud and clear? You know it! It is the same technology used to keep communications from space clear.
The translucent ceramic you use to deceive your friends as having straight teeth with the help of invisible braces-well, that same ceramic descended from space programs too. In addition to that, medical-imaging systems, the ear thermometer, and firefighters' fire-resistant uniforms-- all are inspired from space programs.
Surprised?
