The SoulArc Board is designed to help skateboarders enjoy an experience that resembles surfing, and this accounts for its springy design. The distance between the deck and its wheels and a composite spring located beneath the deck provides a different feel to this board. Mitch Mulder and Salvaore Vilardi are planning to release their creation into the market at Action Sports Retail trade show in San Diego in a couple of weeks. Vilardi, by his own confession, got tired of the conventional skateboards and with his partner designed this one instead. He says that SoulArc enables riding in places which are otherwise inaccessible. Also, as the rider gains speed and pushes into the deck, the spring provides a bounce, much like riding waves. Although the design looks kind of unstable, there has been thorough research into its ergonomics. It looks more like a longboard, and its capabilities in pulling off tricks remains suspect, but it does promote nice turns. Hit the jump for some images and to see the SoulArc in action.
