Kinect has proved to be far superior to PlayStation Move, but now it might be time for Sony to turn the tables by bettering an idea by Microsoft that failed miserably a little over a decade ago. This unnamed project was discovered in the depths of the patent office and involves a toy doll that would probably be used as an accessory for younger gamers. Microsoft's equivalent to this in 1997 was called ActiMate, which made use of wireless transmitters to have dolls reacting in real-time to kids shows on VCRs. Sony, though intends to take this a whole lot further by integrating these dolls with the PS3 and PSP platforms.

If Sony's new doll is to see the light of day, it would probably have wireless receivers (WiFi or Bluetooth), media playback devices, and "cell processors" amongst other things built into it. In addition, there are reports that the doll would be well equipped to react to more emotional situations with a refillable equivalent to tear-glands to show sorrow in sad gaming moments.
There seem to be provisions for voice modulation and even sensitivity to touch. Sony's project could prove to be a very interesting take on educational gaming you can have all the gadgets in the world, but kids will always love their dolls!
