Sony Walkman is dead in Japan

Posted By: Vikas Shekhawat | Jan 28 2006

So, finally the iPod has started biting the giants with its teeth still hidden under its charismatic while shell. Yes, after bidding adieu to AIBO, Sony is shifting its production units to low-cost manufacturing hubs like China and Malaysia, just like other Japanese companies. The truth is, all Sony's efforts to sell its portable jukebox with exotic wrappers and even jelly beans, failed to keep up with the fast paced MP3 market, forcing Sony to impose heavy job cuts to recover from the sales slump. It's really too late for Sony to understand and grab the opportunity and beat Apple in the music game; it's paying for the lackadaisical attitude and dim farsightedness. Pay the Price!
