
The fight for the lightest netbook for now seems to have found a worthy contender in the Sony’s newly unveiled VAIO X. The amazingly done 11-inch netbook, wearing a carbon fiber case has been billed as the lightest with weight as low as 1.6 pounds. Stuffed perhaps for the first time, for Sony, with a touchscreen, the VAIO X will be priced at about $1,300, that for a 7.29- x 10.95- x 0.55-inch netbook featuring 2GHz Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, a 64GB solid-state drive, 3G, data-independent GPS and Windows 7.

The interal battery life has been kept to about 3.5 hours however, a second, extended battery i.e. made available with all system, increases the battery life to a mesmerizing 14 hours. Sony has also done a special Signature Collection model for the VAIO X; this will be an all-gold make with 128GB storage capacity, selling for $1,500. The systems are available for pre-order.
