Sony to trigger disk war with Blu-ray Player, also rolls out Vaio PC

Sony leaked details of its BDP-S1 Blu-ray Disc Player and a Vaio RC desktop with a recordable Blu-ray drive, and an internal Blu-ray disc drive for PCs. But you'll have to wait till July to actually see them. Definitely the ongoing war between the Blu-ray standard with the rival HD DVD will soon get a decent fillip but will also frustrate consumers vying for quality and cost effectiveness.

The BDP-S1 player will cost you $1,000 and the Vaio desktop about $2,300. But Sony hopes to pour some water the biting BDP-S1 price with a $25 Blank BD-RE (rewritable) disc with 25GB of storage for free.
