The board is composed of both Cell Broadband Engine and RSX GPU chips. These chips guarantee incredible performance as the Cell Broadband Engine chip alone can deliver 230 GFlops and Sony believes that the introduction of the RSX chip means that the board will be able to deliver much more than that.

The company will show the board at the SIGGRAPH show that commences on August 7. Designed specially for industrial applications the board can process 4K or high-resolution images in real-time. The board will also find some applications in computer graphics rendering and various physics simulations which need high-end multi-thread processing ability.

The board will consume up to 400W and will be used in single unit sized servers.
