Sony readying atracTable to rival the Microsoft Surface
Microsoft Surface brought Minority Report style computing to the fore. We’ve seen the Surface rule the world in its peculiar genre. But now it seems Sony is preparing to take on the Surface with its own atracTable. Seen first at the Vision 2009 in Stuttgart last year, the artacTable is based on Atracsys Multi-touch interaction technology, which is bought by Sony to industrialize a 35-inch table to rival the Microsoft’s genius. The Sony and Atracsys devised system, which comprises two Sony ISS XCD-V60 cameras that build a 3D image, would allow a user to interact with it by placing devices like the cellphone of coffee mug. Further the system would be created to analyze body movements, gestures and changes in movement including body, arm, hand or finger movements. Sony’s creation is also reckoned to be sensitive enough to work out a user's age, sex and emotion – now, are these some features we are looking for in our next table in the living room?
