Sony Ericsson, Xperia Play is the worlds first gaming smartphone which was unveiled at Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, 2011. Perhaps, Sony has realized that how smartphone turbulence has proved out to be a carnage for the gaming market in recent years. Research firms, NPD and Flurry Analytics has revealed that iPhone sales has significantly surpassed the revenues of Sony's PSP devices. It is also evidently clear that the smartphone's have become more powerful than the gaming devices. Samsung Galaxy S alone showcases three times the video processing ability than the Nintendo 3DS. Xperia Play is a good attempt in this regard as it is a unique blend of a gaming device and smartphone. Lets check out its pluses and minuses.

Things we love:
Faster processor: Xperia is having an agile Scorpion ARMv7 microprocessor (1GHz) which is considered as the fastest processor among the recent smartphones.
Included Accessories: You can get variety of accessories with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play like: Stereo Headset, Micro USB cable, etc. EA games has released Fifa 10 and The Sims 3 for the phone which along with other accessories delivers an amazing gaming experience.
Full keyboard: Texting and browsing the web becomes very easy with its QWERTY (other keyboard formats may be available in other countries) keyboard. It is infact a mini version of the computer key board which helps in typing the text messages. Researcher analyst Daniel Ashdown says that "Sometimes you can't get such a good interaction without a keypad."
High-definition Camera: At its back you will find an advanced 5.1-megapixel camera which guarantees the quality of Sony. The captured pictures can be viewed on a 10-centimeter, 854-by-480-pixel multitouch LCD screen.
Nice battery life: The battery backup of Sony Xperia gives a continuous talk time of 505 minutes which is something extraordinary.
Popular operating system: Android has already been proven very beneficial in many smartphone's. The OS has totally revamped the interface of many phones and it also gives access to variety of applications. More applications can be downloaded from the Android World.
Things we hate:
The provision of accelerometer is there but playing the driving games on this smartphone is a bit difficult. Using brakes and acceleration during the game becomes quite tough during the game play.
Many users are calling it as a very heavy phone as it weighs nearly 175 grams. The users who carried this smartphone in the packet or purse found it very heavy.
This smartphone is also not as impressive as compared to other Android phones which offer variety of content and applications.
The dubious keyboard looks good but its functions are quite difficult. The phones hardware also does not include a 3D acceleration mechanism. There is also absence of non-canon screen resolution in this phone.
