Sony is reportedly working on two innovative notebooks: a Google Chrome OS VAIO and a Hybrid PC. The first device will highlight Google’s forthcoming Web-centric operating system and the second one will have an intelligent docking station as the key feature. The new notebooks from Sony are expected to hit stores this summer.

According to rumors, Sony Chrome OS VAIO will have an 11.6-inch PC with a 1366x768 resolution display. The notebook that will run on NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 processor will have a 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage capacity. The Chrome OS-based Sony notebook that will weigh at almost 1kg will probably have features like WWAN, WiFi and Bluetooth and GPS. The device will have dimensions of 298 x 215 x 19.9 mm and will feature a number of VAIO custom applications along with Google’s new Chrome OS.
Sony VAIO Hybrid PC will also play on NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 processor. The device will be a slim Core i7 machine with features like Intel WiDi, SSD storage, HDMI and Intel Thunderbolt like Apple’s latest MacBook Pro. The device will weigh at 1.13kg and will run 8 to 16.5 hours on battery thanks to the lack of an onboard optical drive. Whistler-XT 1GB GPU, Blu-ray burner, HDMI and VGA outputs, Ethernet and USB ports will also be the leading features of the notebook.
