Sony Bravia SXRD VW40: First affordable LCoS-based 1080p projector

Sony's latest Bravia SXRD VW40 has become the most affordable LCoS-based 1080p full scale projector. It is also the first LCoS-based full scale projector that costs below $3,000. We can address it as a new version of VW50 also known as pearl, which features -- 15000:1 dynamic CR, 1920 x 1080 Display Resolution, 200w UHP lamp, audible noise at 22db, 24.251b and 2 years warranty.

Slashgear speculates that by the time Bravia SXRD VW40 is available in the market, its price may be dropped to $2,700. But, if you can't wait to buy one, then pre-order it on Sony's website for $2,999 and is available till Jan 31, 2008.
