Sony announces first Blu-ray discs

Sony has announced that an important has been taken as far as the release of the Blu-ray disc goes. The first prototype Blu-ray discs have been sent out to hardware companies for their player testing.

The disc has a feature length movie encoded in MPEG-2 format, with a 1920 x 1080 resolution.
Apart from the Blu-ray disc, Sony is also planning to add in a Blu-ray technology into their PS3s.
