A new cellphone launched at the Mobile World Congress - the Umeox Apollo, is a solar-powered Android-based phone, which takes only 2.5 hours of sunlight to charge completely. The phone needs to be charged daily after its use, though its still makes a great option for one's who often go out campaigning etc to areas devoid of electricity. Already provided for production, the Umeox Apollo is a phone supporting 3.2-inch 320x480 display, runs Android operating system, and packs in a GB of storage courtesy a MicroSD card. Besides this, the Apollo also features a 3MP camera, 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth and FM radio.

The Apollo needs to be frequently charged while using for 10-15 minutes, this because the phone needs to be charged to good 17 hours in case the phone's battery goes completely dead somehow. It feels good to have phones that can easily be charged by the sun, however if the solar cell gets destroyed then the phone is a mere waste. There's no word on when the phone would be made available - the inquisitive can just take a back seat for now.
There are other solar-powered phones available, here's a quick glance of how these square off against each other.
