Solar-powered MotoMap GPS guides your bike around the globe
If you are a passionate biker and want to explore each and every inch of the planet’s surface on your bike then GPS is something you’ll have to trust to take you to all unexplored regions. You might be having the latest GPS devices in your backpack, but what good is it if you often forget to charge it? Since we are talking about bikers here we have to think of a power source that a biker can use when on the move.

You guessed it right - we’re talking about solar energy. A passionate biker and an industrial designer, Stephen Dettman, has designed a way bikers can reach unvisited locations using a GPS device that powers itself using sun's energy. MotoMap GPS, as the device has been christened, merges the latest in two worlds – thin film flexible solar modules and E-ink flexible display panels.
Unlike conventional GPS units, the MotoMap GPS wraps itself around the fuel tank using magnets. The underside of the GPS unit is lined with PowerFilm flexible solar modules, so when you’re not looking for a new destination you can simply turn the device upside down to charge the built-in battery. The E-ink display promises undistorted imagery even along the slightly curved edges. Moreover, the power-efficient display’s brightness won’t be much affected by the solar glare.
