Solar powered AgBot, a customizable home robot

Given the robotic research and development of late, it has become too difficult to make any guesses as to what’s coming next. Customizable robots have still not been tinkered with a great deal, so here is a solar–powered multifunctional prototype "AgBot" with selectable software options, developed by computer science graduates from the Louisiana State University, as a rationale.

What’s innovative:

Dr. S.S. Iyengar and two computer science graduates have been working to develop AgBot for the past year and a half. And finally they have a product that is capable of performing functions such as lawn mowing, security and just about any household activity that you desire, only on stuffing in separate software for each core. The solar power keeps the AgBot moving at six miles per hour for about four hours. Enabled with Bluetooth and advanced GPS systems, the AgBot is a full feature intrusion detection robot. So when five years down the line you wanna clean your toilet, stuff the bot with a module, replace it with another component and there it is doing the lawn for you, and then when you’re out on a holiday, just don’t bother about your abode, if you have AgBot stuffed with the correct security module then it is back there working as a personal guard.

Watch this:

Such AgBot-type bots are the future of robotic research, therefore, the makers have time on their hands to develop them for a realistic purpose. Dr. Iyengar and his team claim to have proven the concept and applied for the patent, wishing to someday make the prototype ready and commercial at minimum cost.
