A California based company Fat Spaniel could make consumer solar panels much more practical with a new gauge that records not only how much energy is used but also how much is stored over a given period of time.
The new device when attached to solar panel begins to monitor all the activity within the system, both in and out. Then it relays the information to a cell phone or the PC or any party which is interested in the consumer solar usage.
This new technology would allow user to monitor the systems and the consumer would pay for the amount of energy taken from that system.
