What was a dream is turning into reality. Researchers at the University of Leipzig have developed a software, which is designed for robots to help them ‘learn’ through trial and error. Apparently, the software mimics the way our brain works and chooses the same path as that of the information process in the brain, also known as the ‘neural network’. The technology has already been tested on simulated images of humanoids and dogs. The robot may collide against the wall and learn it is not going to be helpful to it’s survival and ‘learns’ alternative methods to cope. The robot behavior is akin to a newborn baby’s, which knows nothing but slowly learns everything through trial and error. This technology is better than traditional programming. Right now, the software is in the rudimentary stage and the robots can only learn minimal actions.
