Smartphone wars: iPhone 4S vs. Droid RAZR

The challenge

We are to compare two belligerent smartphones that have recently gone official; Apple iPhone 4S and Motorola Droid RAZR. These phones are anticipated to intensify the clash between Apple iOS and Google Android this fall. 1. Screen Size

It is here iPhone 4S and Droid RAZR really have the major difference. Motorola’s new Android phone is up with a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED qHD display that has a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. On contrast, Apple has kept up its customary 3.5 inch display on iPhone 4S also. The high resolution Retina Display, however, provides a resolution of 960 x 640 pixels at 326 ppi.

As usual, Apple iPhone has different pricing options. You have to pay $199 for a 16GB model, $299 for a 32GB model, and $399 for the new variant, a 64GB iPhone 4S. At the same time, Motorola is expected to sell Droid RAZR for $299 with a two year data contract with the carrier.

Winner: Apple iPhone 4S, with three pricing options as per onboard memory.

4. Camera

The new iPhone arrives in stores with enhanced camera features. It has an 8 megapixel primary camera with features like autofocus, LED flash, backside illumination sensor, face detection, and a five element lens. For video chatting, you have a VGA camera on the device.

Droid RAZR is also with some identical camera features. The device sports an 8 megapixel primary camera and a 1.3-megapixel front camera. There are image stabilizer and LED flash features on RAZR.

Winner: Apple iPhone 4S. It is rich with many camera features including the high resolution 8 megapixel rear camera.

5. Target Audience

For iPhone 4S, the targeted audiences are really those who want to upgrade their iPhone 4. Moreover, with innovative features such as iCloud, Apple intends to steal the heart of customers who are excited about cloud computing. Meanwhile, Motorola mainly aims at customers who are fed up with the iPhone stuff. With a large display, the company hopes it will get more film watching and web surfing consumers. In fact, both companies have an eye on the upcoming year-end vacations like Halloween, Christmas, and New Year.
