By the year 2018, every living person will have his or her own personal robot programmed to make life easier for it's owner! Wishful thinking, isn't it? I agree that my words are nothing but a reflection of my own imaginations and expectations, but then again, going by the rate at which the Japanese roboticists are progressing in their field of research, it comes quite natural for a layman like me to imagine such things. The latest wonder robot to fan the fire of my imagination is the SmartPal service robot from Yaskawa Electric Corporation. The super-smart robot represents the evolved breed of robots designed to work with humans and assist them in their daily chores. In a recent demonstration, the SmartPal demonstrated it's ability to help disabled people by hanging their clothes for them, not to mention that the smart robot sorted the clothes by color and type before hanging them.

This is just one of the numerous tasks that this robot can accomplish. Equipped with CCD cameras and a special software, the SmartPal has all the elements to make it your perfect companion. Besides moving around on its wheeled base and recognizing your voice out of a crowd, it also stuns you with its flexibility.
Now, tell me honestly, do I look dazed?
