Smart Laser-Scanner for 3D Human-Machine Interface

Posted By: Vikas Shekhawat | Jun 28 2006

The 'Smart Laser-Scanner for 3D Human-Machine Interface' reminds of Steven Spielberg's 'Minority-Report' where Tom cruise and other cops at the 'Department of Pre-Crime' interact by moving fingers on glass displays. Although, the plot of the movie depicts technological advancements in the year 2054 A.D., this latest smart laser scanner apparently declares that the erected foundation of the whole concept is sound enough to imbibe the rest.

The smart laser was developed by A. Cassinelli, S. Perrin, and M. Ishikawa from the Ishikawa-Namika Lab, University of Tokyo, and it tracks fingers in three-dimensions and in real-time without using power glove.
