If you've seen Minority Report, you'd love to comprehend more about the secret behind the moving screens that Tom Cruise flipped with his fingers. That may be a Hollywood special effect but this one is real. Though it's an old concept, I'd like to highlight it again for the love it.

With the help of lasers this new technology allows users to input information into their PDAs and mobiles by writing in the air eliminating the use of a stylus or a keyboard. This ultimate 'Smart Laser Scanner' prototype reads motion of your fingers and recognizes letters you draw in the air. Designed at the University of Tokyo by Alvaro Cassinelli and his team, the technology can also be used to output letters onto any surface that means you can simply read emails on your palm too.

The computer chip sized apparatus can make devices more compact as it can easily be installed in electronic devices, freeing up space. The effect is produced by a software combined with laser, an array of moveable micro-mirrors, and a photo-detector. To know how exactly it works with the help of video demonstrations, I'd like you to visit the site below.
