Kaz Hirai, CEO Sony Computer Entertainment, at Cologne, Germany while announcing the arrival of the new console CECH-3000B, which would replace the predecessor model CECH-2500B, said that the slim version is “33 percent smaller, 36 percent lighter, and would be with a 120GB hard drive.” The model carries a new remodeled logo to go with its new features as well as peppy appeal is added by the textured look.

Furthermore, the hi-tech hardware of the new console CECH-3000B has been upgraded to lose about one pound of weight; so from 6.6 lbs it has been weighed down to 5.7 lbs. It packs in a more compact design with quieter operation as the new fans are also less noisy as confirmed by the company reports.

Well added to these structural advancements, the new advanced PS3 has been implemented with AACS copyright protection in the CECH-3000B, which is the industry standard for all Blu-ray players sold on the market from 2011 onwards. The device that doubles both as a Blu-ray and an elegant DVD player, is also facilitated with a built-in Wi-Fi and HDMI output with 1080p support. With its built in web browser, it also allow to access free online gaming service. The 120GB model costs $299 whereas the 320 GB costs around $436.
