First Kazaa that was a music sharing site then Skype for telecommunication and now their latest venture is ‘The Venice Project‘.

The project combines the best things about Television with the social power of the Internet. The project is aimed at giving the viewers, advertisers and content owners more choice, control and creativity than ever before.

The project can almost kill other Video Sharing sites such as YouTube that don’t offer videos in great quality.

The developers have launched a Beta Version of the program but we haven’t yet got an invite for the service. But I still have enough information about the service to give you some idea about the new product.

After you log into the service you are taken to the download page where you can download the latest version of the software.

After downloading the software which should not take more than a couple of minutes you can install the application on your system which should only be Windows XP Service Pack 2.

After the installation there is no need to reboot your system and you can directly click on the desktop icon on your screen. You are then taken to the application with some default programs that are on the list.

You can customize the application according to your choice and can change the program settings. Currently the service does not allow you to view any LIVE TV, but I think that it will soon be integrated in the service.

You also don’t have to do a lot of research before you can configure your channels as all you have to do is to double click on the channel that you want to watch and also use a similar procedure to remove the channels from your list.

There are some great Plug-ins that have been built into the application one offers you to chat with some of your friends, another to rate the content and a third one allows you to add your favorite RSS feeds to the news ticker.

The application will let you view some great quality content and that too for free. And with this application launch I think some big in the business like YouTube will start to have some hiccups.
