Six-legged robot SIL06 is a land mine detector

Detecting mines or dodging them to get to the other side to gain supremacy is perhaps the most calling chore for military troops and rescuers. Robots have been commissioned for these tasks, and CSIC, we’ve known for the SILO4, a quadruped robot, has now developed a six-legged, more efficient robot the SIL06 for the same.

Wearing a sensor embedded head to detect land mines; the bot on detection sends the exact location of the same to a computer database using GPS. The information is accurate to about 2cm, relying on which the mines can be defused. The robot’s legs are based on an alternating tripod gait, which make sure the bot has 3 feet in contact with the ground at every time. Being more fast and agile the bot could find place in the army, so the troops can feel safer.
