Scientists are working hard to develop a breath test that could detect cancer and its types. This simple test could help the detection of cancer in early stages if the results are confirmed. The preliminary results printed in British Journal of Cancer monthly testified that the sensors under development could differentiate between various types of cancer by just analyzing the breath of the patients, which could be healthy or malignant. The study co-authored by Technion's Professor Abraham Kuten, revealed that the sensors use gold nanoparticles in order to detect the levels of volatile organic compounds, which are present in more levels in cancer patients. I think we might as well say no to biopsies now.
