Sikorsky all set to demonstrate the electric helicopter, Firefly

Sikorsky is all set to demonstrate its ambitious electric helicopter project, Firefly at EAA Airventure in Oshkosh next week. It seems the dream of an electric helicopter is almost complete with Firefly being unveiled. The new design is based on S-300C helicopter. However, the old 190-hp 4 cylinder gas engine has been replaced with 200-hp electric motor and lithium-ion batteries. According to the company this project is the demonstrator of the technology that has been designed to enable a flight of an electric helicopter, developing on electric technology for a better future.
