We have seen keyboards with a built-in CPU and even PCs built into monitors. Now, the tables will be turned and you’ll see a touchscreen stuck onto a PC. Yes, the Shuttle D10 has a 7-inch LCD screen neatly tucked away into the central unit. The resolution may not be praiseworthy at 800×480, but in terms of flexibility of usage, the D10 is quite handy. It comes in processor options of Core 2 Duo E4000, E2000 or Celeron 400 series. Memory is 2GB and there are 4 USB ports, just in case you wondered.
Pricing & Availability:The Shuttle D10 will retail in Japan for around $500. Availability on this side of the world is still open to speculation.
Watch This: It is always tough to choose between a PC with built-in touchscreen and a PC-monitor combo. For some, the resolution is an important criterion, while for the rest, convenience matters. If we had to offer a balanced view, the D10 is worth a look.
Word around the Web:
Doug Aamoth from CrunchGear says:
My personal jury is still out when it comes to computers with built-in touchscreens. On laptops, sure, go for it. On desktops, eh, I don’t know.
