The technological world is actually leaping in all directions, where things like the Retina Display and the 3D displays are making a buzz; Sharp has silently crept into the thick of things with announcement of a 100GB Blu-ray disc based on BDXL format. These world’s first 100GB Blu-ray discs are expected to be released on July 30in Japan. Featuring a new triple-layer storage technology, the 5,000 yen (approx. $60) disc can store around 9 hours of HD content. Unfortunately the discs won’t work with the Blu-ray player at home; therefore you’ll have to buy Sharp made equipment that supports BDXL format. If 100GB is exciting, Sharp could impress you with quad-layer 128GB BDXL disc sooner than you adapt to it’ smaller capacity sibling.
