Sharp announces another Blu Ray Device, BD-HP20S, which is just a stand alone player to be introduced in market in 4th quarter this year.

So is it worth the hype? Why not go for other options which have got recorder and receiver features? Well if those were the questions that you asked yourself then think again, this is a stand alone player which is touted as a fast Blu Ray Player in light of its most highlighted feature ‘Quick Start’ that plays the newly inserted discs in just seconds rather than taking a minute or more as seen in other Blu Ray and HD DVD Players. It has been stripped of DVR tools in order to provide advanced movie features like HDMI 1.3, 7.1-channel sound support using Dolby’s TrueHD standard plus it features Sharp HDTV pictures in 1080p with 24 pictures per second. In addition to HDMI, YUV, optical and coaxial digital exit the Player has also got 5.1-Ausgang.

Sharp also calls it’s new Blu Ray Device BD-HP20S a self-developed product i.e. all elements used in come from house of Sharp. That’s some really sharp work, indeed.

It is yet to be seen how this sleek black & silver beauty performs when it’s ready for sale, but it surely is a product that movie buffs would be looking forward to. Recorder is one of the features that should have been included but as they say everything comes at a price.

Only time will tell if customers would prefer enhanced movie viewing experience over a recorder. But whatever the outcome one thing’s for sure, people at Sharp are really working hard to make their presence felt in Blu-Ray devices market currently owned by Sony. Go Sharp!
