FPD trade show in Yokohama, Japan, taking place from October 24 to 26, will feature Samsung’s 16 inch and 18.4 LCD notebook displays capable of supporting display resolution at 768p or 1366×768 pixels and1080p or 1920×1080 pixels respectively.
Out of burning popularity, Samsung has taken a move from 16:10 to 16:9 aspect ratio and also tried to give a white LED backlight LCD which consumes 40 percent less power than the present LCDs. The growing use of Windows Vista and wireless LANs has given a wide scope for notebook PCs as an entertainment medium.
With color saturation levels of 60 percent for the 16-inch model and 90 percent for the 18.4-inch model and 800:1 contrast ratio, 8ms response time, 262,144 colors makes 16:9 notebook display fit for your Blu-ray DVDs, HD-DVDs, electronic games and digital TV.
We have no words on commercialization, but, production hopes to start in first half of 2008 for 16:9 LCDs, whereas for white LED LCD in the second half.
