A voluntary code of self regulation has been set up by M1, SingTel and StarHub, the three leading mobile operators of Singapore. The initiative has been taken in response to parent’s worry and concerns for their children having access to pornographic, undesirable, racial material on the mobile phones. The trio has developed a common framework to combat the cause. It works on the principle that mobile content should be consistent with other mainstream media streaming. Contents that depict excessive violence, sex, and religious stuff will be automatically gatekeeped.
