When everyone’s trying that little to make a difference for the cause of the environment, it is evident that things used more predominantly are also devised to create a level of self-sufficiency. Catering to such a scenario, VIVA design team at the Guangdong University of Technology have drawn inspiration from the common turnstiles seen at subway stations etc., to conceptualize the Self-Powered Turnstile Green Pass concept.

The Green Pass very uniquely combines the process of the normal turnstile, which to a difference uses peoples’ action and movement, while passing through it, to draw the kinetic energy to power the turnstile for swiping cards, inserting coins, tickets or counting the number of people etc. A huge number of such gate installations would cater as additional power supply, thus reducing energy consumption and also letting everyone inadvertently contribute for the environment’s cause. The Green Pass for its unmatched functionality was recently awarded the first place at the Taiwan LITE-ON Award ceremony 2010.
