It was Western Digital that surprised us all with a Caviar Green 2TB hard drive just days ago. But in the fast paced tech fraternity, there is never a first for an extended period, well personified by Seagate unveiling its own 2TB hard drive, the 3.5 Constellation ES. Forming part of the 7200RPM, the drives are available in 500GB and 1TB capacities versions. Include with Seagate’s PowerChoice, for ultra-low power consumption, offering an SAS 2.0 interface for 6Gbps transfer speeds, the 3.5 Constellation ES are only the first 7200RPM units – which we suppose could actually put Seagate ahead of WD drives we’ve referred to above. For the cost, the Seagate drives could too land up in the same $300 mark alongside the WD 2TB drives, however there is nothing concrete yet and this is just an assumption, but there is a world that the Constellation ES hard drives could be found shipping sometime around summer this year.
