Seagate Ships World's First Momentus 160GB Notebook PC Hard Drives
Seagate Technology's much awaited 2.5' Momentus 5400.3 160GB HDD for notebook PCs is out. The first 160GB drive built on perpendicular recording technology is a 5,400-rpm drive that runs with 4,200-rpm power efficiency for extended battery life and delivers 132 Gbits per square inch to provide the highest levels of drive capacity, reliability and performance.
The efforts are in line with growing number of notebook PC users and increasing demand of high capacity disk drives. The low power consuming hard drive is packed with Seagate's incredible SoftSonic fluid-dynamic bearing motors, making it virtually impossible to hear and QuietStep ramp load technology. The high performance drives even take controls the heat generation.
The shockproof and robust Momentus 5400.3 hard drive features the Ultra ATA 100 Mbyte/second interface, the 1.5 Gbit/second Serial ATA interface will follow suit.
