Scientists propose a space boat to explore lakes on Titan

A team of scientists from Proxemy Research in Washington DC headed by Dr Ellen Stofan has proposed a space boat design to NASA, which if approved could be the first aquatic ship to sail in space. The anticipated $425 million space boat, dubbed the Titan Mare Explorer (TiME) would be designed for future mission to explore the Ligeia Mare and/or the Kraken Mare in the northern hemisphere of Titan, Saturn’s moon.

If all goes well as projected, the boat could be launched in January 2016 and made to land in the waters (if that’s how we can say) of Saturn's moon in June 2023. It’s believed that these lakes on Titan are “composed of liquid methane, ethane, or a mix of both hydrocarbons.” Staying this, and the other peculiarities of the lakes is what the Titan Mare Explorer would be commissioned for.
