The next big thing scientists’ vision to tame and understand is tornadoes. Organized by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Science Foundation, called the Operation Vertex2, it will be a research project involving scientist to better understand the structure and origin of tornadoes in order to equip themselves to predict tornadoes early and avert destructions.

A team of fifty scientists, laced with all the high-tech equipment, vehicles and mobile radars, will be involved in the operation, stretching from May 10 through June 13, to study how tornadoes work. The biggest project of its kind, the Vortex2, to search the basis of twisters will be carried out in the selected states of American including southern South Dakota, western Iowa, eastern Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, the Texas panhandle and western Oklahoma.
