We all know that helicopters were inspired from dragonflies and humming birds.
But these machines have to be controlled by humans as they lack brain.
Now some Researchers at France’s National Center for Scientific Research and the University of Mediterranean in France have created a mini-helicopter that is controlled by its own brain.
The brain constitutes of a tiny robotic chip that is modeled after the pea-sized brain of insects. The chip gets the visual information about the surroundings and uses some simple rules to fly around without crashing. According to the researchers the chip may allow for better take-offs, flights and landings.
I am not very sure that these machines will be able to take any payload in flight but they have great applications in spy operations if they can transmit the images that they see.
