The main component of electronics devices that we use is the battery, therefore for better gadgets an improved battery is a must. In such a scenario when devices are going thin in design, there’s nothing better than an ultra-thin rechargeable lithium-ion battery, for which scientists at the Stanford University have developed a paper-thing battery. The battery is made using a sheet of paper, coated on both sides with carbon nanotube layer, which is further coated with a thin layer of lithium compound that makes this a functional and rechargeable battery.

According to the scientists this new battery that measures only 300 μm thick is thinner and more flexible in design, besides having a higher energy density and other electrical advantages over the other types of thin batteries. We’ll look forward for the paper-thin rechargeable lithium-ion battery to make into the new age thin gadgets soon.
